Strauss & Wagner Review: ComforTone Silicone Eartips

Strauss & Wagner eartips come in a plethora of shapes, sizes, and materials: is it possible that they come in just standard silicone? The answer is yes: the Strauss & Wagner ComforTone eartips are a standard silicone accessory that is perfect for any listener looking for a simple upgrade. It comes in multiple sizes and one standard color, but is the ComforTone the right eartip for your IEMs? Read about all the details of this accessory down below to determine if it’s the right fit.

LOOK & FEEL

As far as ear tips go, the Strauss & Wagner ComforTone is a fairly standard variation. The dark silicone is soft and lightweight, fitting easily in the ear. You’re able to get a good seal in all the sizes, and with the slightly sticky material, you are able to feel secure and stable during long listening sessions and not feel like the eartips are going to slide out of your ears. Some soft silicone eartips may run into this problem, but the ComforTone excels in making sure you don’t have this issue at all.

During my use of the ComforTone eartips, I oftentimes forgot I was wearing them. For smaller ears like my own, the smallest size was perfect for my ears and provided a perfect seal for a host of IEMs. I used them with the 64 Audio U12t (2025 Revision) the most, and I found it helped the universal shape be more stable in my ear. I liked the ComforTone for its easy moldability and versatility to any ear shape.

Like the other variations, Strauss & Wagner provide the exact measurements of the internal and external diameters for each eartip size in the ComforTone multipack. All the internal nozzles are 4.5mm in diameter, which is a standard IEM size. You’ll also find a uniform height amongst all the sizes. If you know your exact size, you can buy individual size packs with 3 pairs in each, or a multipack with one size of each. The other dimensions of the ComforTone are as follows:

  • Small: 10.9mm (D) 9.2mm (H)
  • Medium: 12.4mm (D) 9.2mm (H)
  • Large: 13.5mm (D) 9.2mm (H)

COMPATIBLE WITH…

The ComforTone eartips are compatible with most standard IEMs. The 4.5mm nozzle is a standard size that you’ll find almost everywhere, so you’ll likely find compatibility with your favorite pair of IEMs. One thing to look out for in terms of ComforTone compatibility is the lack of a ridge on the inside of the IEM. This means you won’t find any barrier that locks onto the edge of the IEM nozzle. While this may not be an issue for most, it does mean that IEMs with shorter nozzles run the risk of popping off more easily as opposed to those with longer nozzles. IEMs like the Sennheiser IE series theoretically do work, but their shorter nozzle makes the ComforTone more prone to slipping off.

Below is a list of earphones, both wired and wireless, that are compatible with the ComforTone eartips. If you don’t see your IEM on the list, feel free to come in and try them on or give us a call to see if they are compatible.

SOUND QUALITY

How do the ComforTone eartips sound with your IEMs? I used quite a few different models of IEMs during my testing, ranging from top-of-the-line to entry-level, all from various companies. It was easy to integrate these with any IEM because of its universal size, which made finding the sound difference easy to recognize. The ComforTone didn’t really change the sound signature of IEMs; as a matter of fact, because it is a pretty standard replacement made of material that a lot of stock eartips are made from, it was hard to find easily discernible differences. The ComforTone eartips had a noticeably more comfortable fit, which is where the quality really shines.

Using these eartips with various earphones, I was able to see what sonic characteristics they carried. The ComforTone took earphones like the Kiwi Orchestra II and the ThieAudio Monarch MKIII and highlighted their treble detail. Because the ComforTone is not made of a material that absorbs frequencies well, you get to hear more of the details and elements that make tracks as memorable as they are. The clarity and details provided kept the tracks from becoming muddy or too bassy. It struck a fine balance between airy and bright but also thick and bassy. Overall, it’s a nice complement to any sound signature, so you can use the ComforTone for any genre you may listen to.

COMFORTONE VS OTHER EARTIPS

What is comparable to the ComforTone eartips? There are a lot of options for silicone eartips, including ones that even come directly from Strauss & Wagner. The ComforTone offers a stickier material than that of the SilPhase or SoundNest, making it a little more stable in the ear. You have a slightly bigger size than the SeraSil, so you are met with ones that become more versatile for all types of ears.

You can also look at Azla Xelastic II, which has options for both true wireless and wired earphones. The screen inside is an additional piece that the ComforTone doesn’t have, and it has more uses for true wireless than the ComforTone eartips. Overall, the Xelastic II eartips are a bit shorter and won’t be as invasive a fit, so depending on which you prefer, you’ll be able to choose one over the other.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Strauss & Wagner ComforTone silicone eartips are a great accessory to your IEMs. They are a standard silicone eartip, but offer premium comfort to seem like an upgrade at a low, low cost. With three different sizes to choose from, you are sure to get a proper seal and the most comfortable fit for your favorite pair of IEMs. You may need to test them to make sure they fit, but with a standard nozzle size on all sizes, you shouldn’t run into any issues with the ComforTone eartips.
