Weekly poll results: Poco F9 Ultra sizzles, Poco F9 Pro not as hot, both need a price cut

From the comments under last week’s poll we know that some of you have already bought a Poco F9 Ultra. This is clearly the more popular model of the two – its F9 Pro sibling did okay, but it’s clearly in the shadow of the Ultra.

It’s not all roses, though. From the poll results it’s clear that people think that F9 Ultra’s starting price ($730/€830 early bird) is too high. But as our weekly deals posts have shown us, the Poco F series gets frequent discounts and promotions. The F9 generation will not be any different in that respect.

What we found interesting is that very few people leaned towards getting a Poco F8 Ultra instead. The new model has a relatively limited set of upgrades – for example, both F8 Ultra and F9 Ultra have the same chipset (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5), so performance will be the same. The new model has a bigger battery (8,050mAh vs. 6,500mAh) and a 200MP main camera (vs. 50MP), which did influence people’s decisions.

The Poco F9 Pro makes a bad first impression with its $650/€740 (early bird) pricing. However, the poll results are clear – sentiments will warm up quickly once the discounts start rolling in.

That said, the strong preference for the Ultra remains. The Pro got a solid chipset upgrade (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series) and a 200MP main camera. However, its relatively weak 2.5x/60mm 50MP telephoto camera and smallish 6,330mAh battery are holding it back.

The friendly fire isn’t limited to the F9 Ultra vs. F9 Pro either. The Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro are an interesting alternative to their Poco cousins.
