Just lovely – funny, romantic and lovable
I’m an avid reader. I love romance novels and was really thrilled to find Maxine Morrey’s previous novel, Winter’s Fairytale, which I found to be a breath of fresh air. No over complicated, over dramatic misunderstandings (they tend to make me roll my eyes and decide that they’re all incredibly silly). Not in Morrey’s books, though. Believable, human characters, flawed of course but just generally good, funny and amazingly likeable.I read this book following the previous, with high expectations, and was again delighted to find a similar feelgood mixture.I loved following the developing friendship (and more) between Michael and Kate, and the story has left me with a warm glow of a believable story well told (and more than a little bit of a crush on Michael!).

Great Christmas read!
4.5 stars. Having found a moment of peace after the family had left on New Year’s Day (I love them…but they’re really noisy!) I wanted to read something fun and not too heavy. This book fitted the bill perfectly!I enjoyed getting swept up in Katie and Michael’s story – I warmed to them both very quickly. I want someone like Katie to come and help me with my house! The story has some funny moments and some thoughtful moments and I finished it in one sitting! Will be looking for more!

Warm, sweet and full of Christmas cheer!
he Christmas Project follows professional organiser, Kate who’s tasked with sorting out the messy home of her best friend’s brother just in time for Christmas. The two don’t get off to a great start but over the course of the book that changes. There are witty exchanges as well as sweet moments all set against a very Christmassy backdrop. The romance is well paced and natural and I loved the characters – the doggy element was a real bonus too!All in all this is a warm, sweet romance laden with festive cheer that wont fail to make you smile – the perfect December read!

stubborn and just a great character. If she was real
I instantly took a liking to Kate. She was witty, sarcastic, strong minded, stubborn and just a great character. If she was real, I’d want her as my friend. I loved that we only got to see glimpses of her past until she has an argument with Michael. Michael.. Well, he was a great character. A bit rude and arrogant to begin with but we see him transform in to this caring, loving, handsome (even more so) man. I think he is a character that I could have read about all day. Janey was a welcome addition of a motherly figure, she cared so much for Kate and I loved the way that she seemed to be the protective figure in her life. The writing style was quick and easy to read. Before I knew it, I was half way through the book and a couple of hours further into the day. One minute it was smiles, laughs and giggles, the next it was a sniffle and a quick, wipe the eye moment.

Easy reading
Gentle story ,easy reading. However, very predictable. All a bit rushed the end, could have made a bit more of the romance.

Very lovely story
I really liked this book, it made me laugh and cry on the same page, which always a good sign. I really liked that the story was from the the perspective of the main character, however it would have been nice for her to be described a little, even it was just the colour of her hair. So happy I read this book!

The house Doctor meets handsome Irish hunk
I bought this because of the cover, I didn’t put it down because of the sterling writing and laugh out loud plot. The Christmas Project is to help handsome but stubborn, set In his ways even Irish architect sort out his pig-sty of a house into a welcoming home to host his family’s Christmas party. Michael is the archetypical Alpha male with all the personality and physical characteristics needed to curl up with on a cold night, figuratively speaking or course. Kate is the organiser put upon by her best friend, and Michael’s sister o help him turn both his life and his house around.I adore Christmas books at this time of year, well at any time of year really. This is about the twelfth I’ve read and it’s right up there as a good solid read that ticks all the boxes for a few hours out of reality and into another person’s life where a Happy Ever After is a given.

This book was the perfect holiday romance to read while curled up on the couch with a comfy blanket and a warm mug of tea (Earl Grey, of course, since the book is set in London). I loved the whole premise with professional organizer Kate Stone getting off to a bad start with her latest client, the irascible and disturbingly attractive Michael O’Malley. As neither of them wants to disappoint Janey (Michael’s sister/Kate’s bestie who more or less forced them into their business arrangement) and Michael’s house/life are in need of a major overhaul so that he can host his family for Christmas, the contentious duo decide to put aside their differences and work together toward a common goal. As they spend more time together and start peeling back the layers beneath their guarded facades, Michael and Kate discover that they’re more alike than they originally thought. Will they find what they’ve been missing in each other?I really liked the pacing of the relationship in this book. It felt organic that Michael and Kate would open up to each other and start showing their vulnerabilities while working together in his personal space. They were both carrying A LOT of baggage (his failed marriage; her unhappy childhood), but were good people at heart who wanted the same thing—to be happy and share their lives with someone they could trust. I found Kate’s backstory to be particularly compelling as she was all alone in the world with no parents or siblings, and it was beautiful to see her being embraced by Janey and Michael and treated like she was family. Of course, there are obstacles to overcome as Kate’s almost-always-absent boyfriend and Michael’s cheating ex-wife pop up at the most inconvenient times, but the “Course of true love never did run smooth” as Shakespeare said. And I think it was important for Michael and Kate to weather some storms before realizing what they could have together.I’m a big dog lover, with three of my own (two of whom are rescues), so I really got a kick out of the little sub-plot in the book about Kate spending most of her spare time volunteering at a rescue center where she was always falling in love with the dogs. I thought it was really sweet when she tried to match Michael up with a pooch of his own.The dialogue in this book was very snappy, and I felt like Kate and Michael had a palpable chemistry that jumped off the page. I kept imagining the delicious Aidan Turner as dark-haired Irishman Michael so that added to my enjoyment of the romance. The Michael character evolves quite a bit from the beginning to the end of the story, and it was nice to see his brusqueness turn to warmth and caring. I think he was always a big softie at heart!I’m so glad I discovered the work of this talented author and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future. If you’re a fan of Brit Lit and Rom Coms, you won’t want to miss this very entertaining read!

I have read a bunch of rom com books so far, and I can say with some confidence that, although totally readable, this book is a few steps far from good.I enjoyed the story alright (though quite clichè, but it’s hard to find a good original romcom nowadays), but the style of writing (all those ‘good bye, have a nice day. – Thanks, you too, bye’ sort of things) made me feel like it would need some improvement.

Spoiler free reviewI’m truly delighted with this book. I wanted some light, entertaining reading with a christmas theme and that’s exactly what I got. The characters are hilarious and well written, you really feel the spark (or snow-shovels 😉 ) flying between them. The dialog is witty and snarky at times, but that’s exactly the type of humor I respond to. So, if you are looking for an easy read with dialogue that is believable and entertaining, look no further! Thanks for those wonderful hours (even though I stayed up way too late for two nights because I had a hard time putting down the book).

The banter, the quips, the arguments and the jibes between the two main characters made this cute story appealing, humorous and eventually heartwarming. This grumpy and “apparently” sunshine trope was one of the most fun that I have read. It made for a very entertaining Christmas themed slow burn romance.
