I had a headache and just wanted something sweet to read rather than a heavy fantasy novel
I had been meaning to pick this up for the longest time, and for some reason never had. Well, wasn’t that a mistake! Until last night, I had a headache and just wanted something sweet to read rather than a heavy fantasy novel. So I picked up the wonderful Winters Fairytale by Maxine Morrey!Winters Fairytale follows Izzy, after being duped at the Altar 6 months ago by Stephen, carries on with her business making wedding dresses. After ignoring the best man, Rob. Who had the unfortunate task of delivering said bad news. She continues to avoid his texts and calls until he turns up out of the blue one cold snowy night, say hello to Izzys knight in shining armour Unable to get home Izzy really has no other choice than to make her way back to Robs apartment avoiding the snow, but the snow is all she can avoid because she has a lot of questions to answer…I loved Izzy, a wedding dress designer was always my dream job when I was little always scurrying down little designs so I loved reading about her and her life. A wedding is magical anyway, throw some snow and festivities into the mix and what do we have? ROMANCE. With the elegant designer lifestyle, minus a posh fancy apartment she was ok. She’d been dumped at the altar but was strong and feminine and so totally getting on with her life. Until heartthrob Rob comes back into her life, the friend that ended up on the wrong side of her fist on the wedding day. I ADORED Rob, he was the ultimate book boyfriend. So sweet, kind, caring and a gentleman. Maxine definitely knows how to write a great man. With a few other characters throne itnto the mix like a demanding shallow ex girlfriend, and a family that just knows whats up you’re really in for an entertaining read with Winters Fairytale. You manage to love and loathe admire and adore all of these characters, some are so likeable some so dislikable.I kind of want you to go in this blind, like I did. It makes the book that whole lot more magical. It just oozes charisma and charm! This book was uplifting, satisfying and the best romance book I’ve read all year. I’ve really stopped reading romance books this year, because in all honesty I’ve kinda lost interest in them. No offence to romance writers, it’s just not me anymore. I’m not a ‘love’ kind of person but Maxine Morrey really makes you fall in love with love again. believe in a gentleman, believe in romantic gestures and true love. That true love is something we should all root for, search for. Because if it’s meant to be, it’ll be!It’s hard to find an Author that you love from the first book you read, but Maxine Morrey manages to grab you and pull you into the storyline of Izzy and Rob and root for the romance!Winters Fairytale really is a fairytale romance. Im not quite sure how to really tell you how beautiful this novel really is without you just reading it. It moved me in so many ways. I laughed, smiled and couldn’t stop reading the entire way through. It’s been a long time since I’ve sank into a novel and read it in under 12 hours, without a care for anything else going on around me. I’ve fallen head over heels for Maxine’s writing style, her characters and her way of building the most exciting storyline. She’s fast become an auto buy author for me. Be right bad whilst I read The Christmas Project!

    Excellent debut story
I’m really surprised this is Maxine Morrey’s debut novel: it was very well written, & grabbed me from the start. The story takes place in London, & is written by an English writer (so many authors on Kindle are from America).Izzy, having been jilted at the altar, has sworn off men, & thrown herself into her business as a wedding dress designer. She spends much of her time at her studio, or with her best friend, Mags.Rob has been texting & calling Izzy since the “non-wedding”, but she has been avoiding him as he was friends with her ex. She had also punched & broken his nose when he – as the best man – delivered the bad news to her at church six months ago. When Rob runs into her shortly before Christmas & insists on her staying at his London flat for the weekend as the roads are impassable & the trains cancelled, despite reservations, she agrees. We are also introduced to Rob’s sister, Jenni, & her fiancé, Mike, when they have a wedding dress disaster, which Izzy offers to help, & his parents, Eleanor & John, who invite Izzy to stay with them over the festive period (for dress fittings etc for the New Year Day wedding). As Izzy slowly realises she has feelings for Rob, will he return those feelings & decide to be more than just friends? Or will his ex throw a spanner into the works?Although a little predictable in parts, I found this to be a delightful & refreshing read. It’s a modern day romance with no sex scenes. The characters are strong (although I did find Izzy to be a little annoying & accident prone, especially in her high heels – completely not suited to the UK winter weather!) I loved Rob although I couldn’t understand why he had to date his ex when he was clearly in love with Izzy! I thoroughly enjoyed Jenni & Mike’s relationship. I would like to learn more about Mags, & maybe Callum.

This book will put warmth in your heart.
Oh my goodness what a perfect *Winter’s Fairytale* Maxine has written. It’s such a superb read for this time of the year, giving you heaps and bounds of feel good factors. It was a pleasure to read about a united supportive family, intelligent and artistic people who face life’s ups and downs and their hopes and dreams. What’s more, a strong hunky male lead Rob, makes turning the pages so very easy. I adored the leading lady Izzy, a tiny yet perfect package with a heart of gold. Sexual tension and mixed messages have the reader hanging on, willing a perfect ending. Simply put, i LOVED this book. A snowstorm of 5 snowflakes from me ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️.

A touching and very heartwarming story of finding that forever love as well as dealing with some very painful heartbreak. I especially love the main characters as they are very well defined and this is definitely a book to be reread. *****

Tellement d’émotions contenus dans un seul livre, je l’ai dévoré… Des personnages forts, sensibles, réalistes et très émouvants. Les héros de Maxine Morrey sont superbes.
