An emotional and heart-warming portrayal of the lives of four women living in wartime London.

For the girls living at No.13 Article Row, the war years have never been tougher…
Tilly is heartbroken when Drew, the love of her life, returns to America and doesn’t come back. Tilly can’t believe that he would break their solemn promise to love each other for ever. Olive. Tilly’s mother, knows the real reason that he has never been in touch but fears the truth will hurt her daughter even more.
For Tilly’s friends, Agnes and Sally, the war has also dealt them a cruel hand and, along with the rest of the country, they have had their share of pain. But they say that it is always darkest just before the dawn, so could it be that this war, and the girl’s fortunes, are finally beginning to turn?

Customers say

Customers find this book to be a wonderful read that brings the saga to a satisfying conclusion, with one customer noting it’s a roller coaster of emotions that brings both tears and laughter. The writing style receives mixed feedback, with some praising the author while others find it inferior to Annie Groves’ work. Moreover, customers appreciate the character variety and consider it an excellent series. However, the book receives negative feedback for its numerous typos and weak pacing.

    A Christmas Promise
This Book was just the best to Finnish off the Article RowBooks. Such a lot happening in it. All the way through.Glad Dulcie made it well with David. And had a lovely familyAgnes who later moved to the Farm and did well. I am gladShe sorted out Ted’s mother and sisters they were Hopingto be waited on by Agnes. Glad Agnes saw what they wereTrying to sponge off her. Thought she was an easy ticket. But glad she sent them packing. Good for Agnes. And she will finally be happy with Carlos. At the Farm toHelp her. Sally well glad she saw that Callum was for herIn the end. Shame about George. Getting killed but maybeIf he hadn’t perhaps Sally might have had second thoughtsAnd glad she kept Alice . And didn’t put her in an Orphanage. She would. Have been very upset if she had. And LastlyTilly. Although things at first did go well for her with DrewAnd. Then he had to return home after his mother died. But his father was wrong to do what he did. But onlyActing out of kindness. But Tilly’s mother should haveTold tilly about Drew being in hospital after his accident. But Olive kept it back. And Tilly found out later. ButAlthough all went well later after tilly. Had her accidentIn Italy and Drew turned up at her bedside. . WellEverything from there clicked into place. And eventuallyMarried to Finnish this lovely book. Lots going on .Also this book was well written. Enjoyed it very much.Didn’t want it to end really. Can read it again .Though. But not just now. But must say thank youTo Sheila who I read finished this Article Row series forAnnie Groves or Penny. Walsall. She is every bit as good.As Penny. thanks for a great read. Well Done.

    Great Series
I read this on the kindleThis is the last in the series I found that part of the synopsis is wrong as it says Sally is left expecting after her husband George dies she is not left expecting & her & George didn’t marry, also there wasn’t a letter which Tilly wants to get to the bottom of but a letter that not given to herEnjoyed this as you see Agnes come in to her own, Dulcie who is enjoying motherhood with her daughter Hope & her nephew Anthony who she is looking after for sister Edith, Sally is still coming to terms with that her father & her friend & new wife are killed she is looking after her half-sister AliceThen there is Olive who is mother hen to all she is also mother to Tilly, I did find that Olive tried to call the shots with her so much so that she kept a letter from Tilly who joins ATS & goes off to serveThen there is Archie Dawson the police Sgt & Barney who is the boy who he takes inThe series was a good series &while the synopsis is a bit wrong it still has you want to read it but you do need to read the earlier books I did miss the 1st book not knowing that there was an earlier one so I read from book 2The last 2 books are done by a different author using notes ect by the original author but kept the name as Annie Groves was fiction name for her

    Good Ending to the Series
There were parts about this book that I truly enjoyed. Over the course of this series I have grown fond of these five women, Olive, Tilly, Sally, Dulcie and Agnes and enjoyed watching them grow and evolve with each book and it was nice to catch up with them again and to learn the rest of their story. As I said the book tied up the loose ends, there weren’t many surprises about how it all ended really. The usual happy ending, the war is over and everyone is looking forward to a bright and happy future. I finished reading it on Remembrance Day and as I read about the D-Day invasion and the little blitz and the Italian front and it brought to mind both family stories and the documentaries that have been running all week on the history channel which brought the story alive for me. Now to the things that I didn’t like. For a while Tilly seemed to act her usual immature self. Really?? Cutting off ties with your own mother just before you go off to war over a man? Knowing she could be killed in battle? I would’ve hoped the war would’ve taught her better that life is too short to cut off the one person who will always love you no matter what. The relationship and romance between Drew and Tilly I found to be still more on the slushy and slightly annoying side, and had hoped that Tilly would meet someone else and fall in love and finally move on. Maybe I’m being nitpicky but their storyline was the only one that bothered me. Overall though I did enjoy this book, with the exception of the above mentioned love story and at times found it hard to put it down. I feel sad that the series is finished as I enjoyed reading about these five women, their neighbours, family, friends and of course significant others, but I do think the author did a good job with the last two books in the Article Row series and look forward to see what she comes out with next.

    annie groves
all Annie groves books are brilliant, all very believable, you are immersed in the storylines from the first page,i would advise anyone to purchase her books as sadly she died recently and a ghost writer has completed her series, she left a raft of ideas and research material for her last book and the ghost writer was chosen because her style of writing mirrored Annies, the last book is now on sale and a great testimony to a wonderful writer who will be sadly missed

    OK. Very weak and predictable
This being the last in the series was a ‘must’ to read. FIrst 3 were excellent but last two books wold have been better to have been condensed into one book, THis book is ok, but storyline 100% predictable. SHame that authoress died whilst writing the series, Have enjoyed all her books especially this series. NIce that the series was finished by another similar writer, but these last two books are very weak. Sure that the stand in writer will be stronger with her own story linesRecommended for easy read if you want to finish the series but don’t bother if a one off read
