A snowy escape. A charming stranger. A Christmas she’ll never forget…
Music has always been Hailey Morgan’s greatest love, but her dream of becoming a songwriter feels far away. Instead, she’s stuck in a job as a high school music teacher facing yet another Christmas filled with family drama and her mother’s relentless matchmaking.
So, when the offer of a snowy cabin escape comes her way, she jumps at it – only to arrive and find the place already occupied…by a family of unexpected furry visitors. Luckily, Jay Cooper – a handsome, easy-going former musician – is more than happy to lend a hand.
Snowed in together, Hailey and Jay spend their days decorating Christmas trees, sipping hot chocolate by the fire, and rediscovering their shared love of music. But when the outside world comes calling, will Hailey risk everything for not only a chance at love, but at the dream she thought she’d lost?

    Simple shortish story.
A love story set at Christmas. A predictable non-plot. No drama. Infuriating characters. Happy ending. The story line could have been expanded and developed to create a worthwhile read.

Debbie Macomber is back with another Christmas romance, and this time, it’s giving run away from your family’s holiday expectations, but somehow still end up in a Hallmark movie. In “A Christmas Duet”, Hailey Morgan is over the constant pressure from her family—especially from her mother, who seems to have taken over the role of matchmaker and Chief Holiday Enthusiast. Instead of forcing herself to smile through another overwhelming Christmas with her newly invited ex, Hailey pulls off the ultimate festive escape: a borrowed cabin, a break from traditions, and some much-needed solitude to work on her music. That is, until Jay, the town mayor’s son and ex-musician-turned-temporary-handyman, shows up to help her out, proving that small towns will not let you be alone in peace. This one has all the signature Macomber charm—small-town warmth, holiday magic, and a romance that builds with just the right amount of slow-burn sweetness. But what really makes this book shine is Hailey’s personal journey. Family relationships can be messy, and Hailey’s struggle with hers isn’t just about Christmas decorations or differing personalities—it’s about years of expectations, comparisons, and the complicated love that exists between those who are meant to know you best. Her family members aren’t villains, but they also don’t quite get why Hailey feels the need to step back. That emotional core gives the story a little more depth than your average holiday romance. And Jay? He’s the perfect mix of supportive, capable, and kind, making it easy to root for him as more than just the town’s unofficial temporary handyman-therapist.A solid 4.5 out of 5 stars! It’s sweet, heartfelt, and captures both the joy and the occasional chaos of family during the holidays. Hailey’s journey feels authentic, the romance is warm and cozy, and if you’ve ever needed a break from holiday chaos—but still want to soak up all the festive vibes—this is the perfect book to curl up with. I hope Hallmark develops this one into a Christmas movie!

Hailey Morgan’s life has always revolved around music. She once had big dreams of becoming a professional songwriter, but the reality of life has led her to working as an assistant high school band teacher in Portland. As the holidays approach, Hailey dreads the annual tradition of spending Christmas with her family and dodging her mother’s meddling questions about her love life. When Hailey’s close friend offers her the use of her family’s empty cabin for a rejuvenating solo holiday retreat, Hailey finally decides to do something to make herself happy. However, her arrival in the small town of Podunk, Oregon, is anything but peaceful when she discovers the cabin has been invaded by several wild animals. Luckily, Jay, the son of the town’s main store proprietor—and an incredibly handsome and charming former musician to boot—is more than willing to help.Soon Hailey and Jay are nearly inseparable, chopping down and decorating a Christmas tree, sipping hot cocoa in front of a cozy fire, and best of all, playing music together. Jay’s positive feedback and encouragement inspire Hailey to believe she might succeed as a songwriter after all. But even in her snow-dusted oasis, family holiday drama still finds Hailey, interrupting and threatening her newfound peace and confidence. Meanwhile revelations from Jay present complications of their own. Suddenly her Christmas paradise has become a winter storm and Hailey must weather through the challenges to stand up for herself and embrace the holiday spirit. My Thoughts:In a delightful journey, A Christmas Duet allows us to follow Hailey’s special holiday moments in the rustic cabin while she grows more enamored with her new handsome friend.A few family interruptions almost ruin Hailey’s efforts, while other surprising events take another turn as Hailey and her sister discover some unexpected connections. Can a special holiday lead her to just what she needs? A delightful five star read.***

This was such a sweet story. I love a happy ending, but two happy endings are better. Macomber brings the music this holiday season. This was a fast, easy feel-good read. The romance was sweet and developed so fast.
