    A MUST read
It was easy for me to identify with Emily in her role of class teacher … and the children in her Year 6 class can be found in any class across the country. 🙂 Mandy Baggot has this spot on! I’ve loved spending time with all the characters in One Christmas Star (even the sweet popping Dennis) and taken together as a whole, they made this an unforgettable story for me.Emily and Ray’s vulnerabilities draw you in and keep hold of your heart. It’s possible to get all the feels from a romance without bedroom scenes (although it has to be said this author does write those scenes extremely well) and that’s what we get in One Christmas Star. The growing friendship and tentative expression of feelings between Emily and Ray feels just right. I was already championing Ray from the start – actions definitely do speak louder than words – and whether they were going to get together in an intimate relationship or not, I was caught up in their unfolding individual stories and wanting life to give them a chance to face their fears and come out the other side with hope and trust.I think this story shows a creative side of Mandy Baggot that we’ve not seen in her writing for a while. Stretton Park’s Christmas show. Wow! Much admiration for the talent needed to dream this up. It’s so entertaining, full of humour but also a fabulous way to show how it is possible for children and adults to work together as a team despite everyone’s differences.Societal current topics are dealt with sensitively and with realism. As are the roles we play in families and the impact that has on how we view ourselves and how we react to life and its challenges. One Christmas Star is more than a romance read. If you haven’t read it yet, you must! You’ll get all the fizz and feels plus much more. Tears, laughter, sadness and hope. Perfect.

    Great book to read
I downloaded this book on whim after Scrawling through Amazon for what felt like forever. At first I really struggled to get gripped to this book. On my second attempt I re-read the first few chapters while secretly hoping that it would get better. At first the author has to make introductions to all the characters which takes up quite a few chapters but without these characters, the book wouldn’t have gotten me as hooked as it did. When the story gets going, it really captures your heart. Each character is loveable and the plot is wonderful. I couldn’t put it down once I had gotten into it. Mandy Baggot , the author had done wonderfully with writing this story but the one thing that stood out to me was the crucial issues she touched upon during the story. Wildlife preservation and domestic violence. The hedgehog population is rapidly declining and Mandy puts across the point very well, its subtle but enough to make you think. She had used the same technique with domestic violence. Mandy also leaves a heart felt note at the end of the book for the reader, thanking them while highlighting the issues she touched upon in the story.

    Funny and festive
This was a lovely, festive romance with all the feels you’d expect from a book of this genre. The story follows school teacher Emily, who crosses paths with fallen-from-grace, rockstar Ray. They connect over a hedgehog and a school Christmas show but with Ray hiding a secret it’s hard to tell if the two will ever be more than just friends. The book is perfect for this time of year, and fans of the movie ‘Nativity’ will certainly enjoy this. The writing is bright and sparky and there’s plenty of humour throughout.

This book stole my heart, loved it!
I love Mandy Baggot’s books and this one stole my heart! I loved Ray & Emily and the back story that accompanied this festive read.I used to love my daughter’s nativities and loved the creative path and the little details included throughout that really helped bring the story to life. There was loss, addiction and domestic abuse but through the heartbreak this book revealed a gorgeous festive love story that totally stole my heart and left me with tears at the end.A superb festive read that I absolutely loved!

What a great Christmas read !
This book is a must read not just over Christmas. Mandy covered many different issues in her story. I loved the Children and all the funny comments they made and how hard they worked to make their Christmas Play come to light. Everyone had a story and I laughed cried and struggled to put the book down. I didn’t want the story to end so hope there maybe a follow up. Many thanks Mandy for a really great read, this is one of your best. Looking forward to reading your next book.

    Absolutely brilliant.
This is a beautifully written book. The characters are normal and loveable. This book has great humour which makes you laugh out loud. Also it is touching and can bring you to tears with joy. Ray, Emily and all the children really make this a great read. If I could i would give it more than 5 stars.

I first thought this book was way way too long for a romance novel. But by the time I reached the end I was wanting more. This book was so sweet and inspiring, it was a brilliant first impression for Mandy Baggot. I’ll be checking out her other stories for certain.

Loved everything about this book. As a teaches, I could truly appreciate the dramas that ensue at school, especially during a Christmas production. Each character brought something to the table, adding humour and feeling to the story. So glad I discovered this author. A scrumptious romance.

I loved the storyline! The romance between Emily and Ray was wonderful and the amount of growth that happened for the characters was really nice. My only fault with the book was for it being a Christmas story how annoyingly anti Christianity it tended to be at times. The end was nice with the play coming together, but a lot of the nonsense in between could have done without. Many people are quite sick of all this bs of having to include everyone when the school was a religious based school. If a kid doesn’t share the same beliefs then there’s no need for them to participate, however Christmas is about giving, love, and peace so truly anyone can revel in that and enjoy all that the season brings without being anti Christianity. Regardless, I did enjoy the actual play itself because it did come together nicely to be inclusive and highlight the true message of Christmas.

Heartwarming characters, especially Emily and Ray, the students at Stratton Park Primary and those spunky hedgehogs. I lot of warmth and unexpected depth for a Christmas romantic comedy. The writing was excellent and I was so engaged in the story I didn’t want it to end!!
