    Heartwarming and Christmassy
Samantha and Ella were sisters, there was only 10 months between them and they were close. They’d always been close and Samantha was always looking out for her younger sister.Samantha ran her own winter holiday company which was a fantastic success and had the idea to build a holiday in a magnificent house in Scotland. The owner wanted her to visit for Christmas with her family and come up with a plan.Ella was a stay at home mum to her daughter Tabs. She’d been a teacher until she had her daughter and loved her job but wanted to spend time with Tabs.Gayle ran a very successful consultancy business and had written books and won awards. She was practical and did things that needed to be done. That is until her accident, then things swam through her mind and realised it was time to change, time to push forward and make amends for past mistakes. Could it be done or was it 5 years too late?I’ve not read too many Christmassy books but I liked the look of this one and I really wasn’t disappointed. It was heartwarming and lovely and the description of the huge house in snowy Scotland made me want to pack up and take my family there for Christmas. I think I’ll be looking into more by this author as it was a lovely festive book that was easy to read and hard to tear myself away from.

    Enjoyable Christmas romance
Very absorbing – But I think there was too much (perhaps American style?) description of their anxt/thought processes compared to the actual story.I don’t know anyone in the UK who reads books about self advancement…I wonder what others think.

Another Christmas Favourite from Morgan joins my keeper shelf.
In need of a little extra Christmas cheer after the car crash that has been 2020, I turned to Sarah Morgan’s new Christmas read and I was not disappointed. The tale of Christmas Vacation specialist Samantha, her sweet but more fragile sister Ella, their estranged career woman mother Gayle, her adorable niece Tab and their last minute holiday to the Scottish Highlands – where they stay at a classic Scottish castle with the gorgeous Brody MacIntire and his family – is an absolute delight. There’s hard-core family bonding as the girls get to know their mum’s secret, while Gayle discovers her maternal side with a little help from her granddaughter and Samantha discovers that love and romance can actually be thrilling after all when she gets to know Brody a LOT better. I loved this book, full of drama, humour, emotional fireworks and hot romance all wrapped up in the kind of charming Christmas package that Morgan specialises in. A great way to see in 2021, not a moment too soon, which delivers on all the feels.

    Loved it!
What better way to get into the mood for Christmas than time in a snowy Scottish Lodge! Gayle has estranged her daughters Sam and Ella over many years. A nasty fall forces them together. Can they forgive the past and become a family again? Of course they can, just add a granddaughter Gayle didn’t know about, a few arguments and an embarrassing phone call. This was fun and very enjoyable!

    3.5/5 festive read
Gayle is a career woman, top of her game that has come at quite a cost, a personal cost and Gayle hasn’t spoken to her daughters in a fair few years. When Gayle takes unwell, publicly on a tv appearance and taken to hospital they reach out to her daughters, will this be what brings them together or is the troubled past about to be a troubled present?Samantha and Ella have managed just fine without their mother, barriers built to protect themselves. Ella has a loving husband and little girl, Samantha is a bit like her mother in that her career is everything but so is happiness. Circumstances force a long awaited reunion over Christmas, Gayle hates Christmas and has never been an emotive demonstrative mother. The girls love Christmas and are the opposite of their mother who never embraced nor encouraged the spirit of Christmas. Oooft things are about to get hairy.Family drama, relationships, unresolved anger, hurt, let down is just some of the issues these ladies are harboring and now about to be together, under one roof and at the time of year that cause them alot of bad memories/blood.Gayle is a bit of a cold fish and at one point I wanted to slap her for what she said but as the book goes on and we learn more about the characters I thawed towards her a bit. Still livid at one particular thing. The family they are with in Scotland are just lovely and it was a nice contrast to the ladies.Dysfunctional families, secrets, love, lies, miscommunication, relationships – it has a blend of just about everything. 3.5/5 for me this time, read Morgan before and will read again.

  6. La plume de ma tante

I loved the style, humour and descriptive power of Susan Morgan! The perfect antidote to Covid lockdown Christmas 2021. The characters are multidimensional, well observed and likeable. The storyline, never boring, flows easily. The plot follows the emotional connecting journey of a distant mother and two daughters, their own growth and the balance of their other relationships. Add to this some cracking scenery, a sprinkling of snowflakes, a few reindeer, just enough romantic love and sexual references to bring extra warmth and mirth to the storyline, I can absolutely recommend this book…. I have since bought it for friends and I am reading ‘First Time in Forever’ by the same author.

An engaging tale with an underlying moral twist. Nicely written and fully engages the reader in its plot. A good read.

I hated it. This is not good writing. It’s like watching a cheesy corny Christmas movie from studio universal or hallmark. It’s an easy read, but completely predictable and full of nice, kind, super successful characters.
