Becky is hosting Christmas for the first time… what could possibly go wrong? The brilliant laugh-out-loud festive novel from the Number One bestselling author.
Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) adores Christmas. It’s always the same – Mum and Dad hosting, carols playing, Mum pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the next-door neighbours coming round for sherry in their terrible festive jumpers.
And now it’s even easier with online bargain-shopping sites – if you spend enough you even get free delivery. Sorted!
But this year looks set to be different. Unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocado, Becky’s parents are moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch and have asked Becky if she’ll host Christmas this year. What could possibly go wrong?
With sister Jess demanding a vegan turkey, husband Luke determined that he just wants aftershave again, and little Minnie insisting on a very specific picnic hamper – surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old boyfriend and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear . . .
Will chaos ensue, or will Becky manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas?

Book Review: Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella (From: AntonySimpson.com)
Don’t panic. Don’t panic.Christmas Shopaholic is the best book in the Shopaholic Series to date.Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) returns and it’s her turn to host Christmas.Becky and Luke’s guests will include: Becky’s mum and dad, their neighbours Janice and Martin, Suze & Tarquin and their children, her sister Jess and her partner Tom.Becky desperately wants her Christmas to be like a Christmas movie. Everyone getting on, following traditions and everyone to say: Do you remember that Christmas at Becky’s? Wasn’t it great. But with the guests falling out with one another; everyone making demands around their Christmas traditions; trying to get Luke a sensational gift; and an ex-partner coming back into her life with the offer of friendship – but whom has secret motives; making an outfit for Minnie’s school nativity; worrying about her sister Jess who won’t open up about what’s going on in her life; supporting one of the school mums whose having a rough time. Becky has a lot going on.Can Becky pull off her dream? Well if you’ve read any or all of the Shopaholic series, you know Becky is resourceful and often solves problems in her own unique way. It is her ideas and how she pulls it off that makes this book a joy to read. This book had plenty moments of comedy that made me laugh out loud. The ending made me cry with happiness. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of Christmas Shopaholic and was gutted when I read the last word of the last page.I’ve always thought of Becky’s husband Luke as being a bit two dimensional, but he scored major brownie points with me and some realism points to, by swearing and holding people to account in this book.If I could say anything to author Sophie Kinsella, it would be to make Luke a bigger part of the story. He is barely mentioned in most of the Shopaholic novels, yet is a big part of Becky’s life.Christmas Shopaholic is available to buy on Amazon.Blog soon,Antony

Best Shopaholic book to date – couldn’t stop laughing!
Without a doubt, 10000000% the best Shopaholic book to date, and my new all time favourite not only of the series but of Sophie Kinsella’s.How have we not seen Becky Brandon deal with Christmas before, it seems like such an obvious fit for a shopaholic, but anyway I’m so so glad this book now exists. I was fabulous.I lost count of the amount of times I laughed, giggled, snorted and generally made mirth like noises while reading, my face hurts from grinning and there was even one rather beautiful moment where tears were pricking my eyes.I thought Wedding Night was the authors funniest book, but this one really does take the crown. It is the author at the top of her game, and my only regret is that it finished. Although with the last words of the book I can’t help but hope there will be more Shopaholic in the future. If you have never read a shopaholic book book, where have you been over the last decade – the whole series is just superb and even though I sometimes find it hard to remember characters for a series, especially one that isn’t released in quick succession, from the first page or two I was back in Becky’s world and loving every last word of it.Dont’ ask me if it can be read as a standalone, I was far too busy enjoying seeing Becky’s approach to online shopping, trying to work out if she can host Christmas, making up new marketable concepts, her quest for the perfect Christmas, and all the zaniness that only she and her friends and family can provide – to worry whether anyone unfamiliar with the series would be able to follow! The mind boggles as to all of Becky’s thought processes and this really is an ode to shopping, she tries to save money, she on advice of Jess tries to shop ethically, she has a massive quest for the perfect present for Luke which is beyond what I’d imagine most wives would attempt for their husbands. It’s pure genius. All the familiar faces are present, and we get to see Becky’s parent’s in a new light as they move to Shoreditch and try to embrace a whole new, much younger person’s lifestyle! This is 425 pages of pure pleasure, complete and utter joy, and why oh why did it have to end! This is a must have, must read for any Shopaholic fan, any fan of Sophie Kinsella, for fans of shopping and for hilarious rom-coms. It’s easily one of my favourite books this Christmas season and possibly of the year!

Hilarious & lighthearted
Oh what a lovely Christmas read! Even though I’m not hosting Christmas (yet) it’s still a very relatable story and has got me panicking because I’m so unprepared for Christmas this year… I need to get a move on with sorting presents still!!!So after starting it I was actually informed that it’s part of a series, which I haven’t read any of, even though I’ve got some of my tbr and still didn’t realise… haha but it didn’t matter at all, it’s still a perfect stand-alone read! I 100% want to read more of the series after this.I just LOVED Becky! Some of the stuff she comes out with/does is so hilarious and at parts I actually laughed out loud! I really enjoyed that it was all in Becky’s narrative as you really got to connect with her and feel her emotions. I also really liked the email and text additions in between some of the chapters, I thought that was a great touch. Although, I was reading it on my Kindle so I’m guessing it probably looked even better in the paperback! The ending was amazing! The very last bit was a shock and I felt came out of no where lol, I definitely wasn’t expecting it, but it was just so lovely and made my heart smile sooo much!Overall, it was a fab read that I’d recommend if you fancy something lighthearted and funny! Can’t wait to read more of Sophie Kinsella’s work in the future.

I did not like at all the previous Shopaholic books telling Becky’s adventures in the USSo I was a bit dubious about this one. But thankfully the narration is back on track. Becky is the usual Becky, above the clouds as usual but no more obnoxiously silly like the American one. A bit more mature but always apt to put herself in funny situations. Loved it!
