The Honor Magic9 series will be unveiled at the end of this month and we think that it will have three members – the Magic9, the 9 Pro and the Magic9 Pro Max. The latter, painted in the Moss Green color that we’ve seen in teasers, starred in an early unboxing and hands-on video.
The video was posted on Weibo – you can watch it here. It starts by going over the exterior of the phone. The “Oreo” style camera island of the Magic8 series is replaced by a mix of round elements and a full-width rectangle.

The markings on the rear camera describe a 200MP 1/1.28” sensor and f/1.57 lens with OIS that corrects up to 3° of deflection. There is a second 200MP sensor on board, this one 1/1.4” in size, which sits behind the periscope lens. And yes, Honor’s partnership with ARRI will benefit the Magic9 series as well (we already saw the first co-designed camera on the Robot Phone).
One thing that hasn’t changed is the wide pill cutout for the selfie camera and the 3D depth sensor on the front. By the way, these phones are said to be the first Androids with a square selfie camera sensor.
Anyway, the Honor Magic9 Pro Max has slender 1mm bezels around the screen and symmetrical 1216 speakers with grilles on the top and the bottom of the phone. On the right side, you can see the latest incarnation of the AI button.
